Emailing your letters

You can send in your letters by email to letterbox@adoptionlancashireblackpool.org.uk. A copy of this will be saved to the child's file. We suggest that you do this via the secure Egress email system. You can do this by setting an account and password up.  (Google 'Egress' and Sign up). Please make sure that you include your child’s name and date of birth when sending your email.

If you have not received your letter as usual and are worried if your child is ok

We acknowledge that now is a difficult time for everyone and that you will have your own additional pressures as a family. The team will try to ensure that mail is processed and sent onto families as soon as possible. Please be assured we would be in touch if we have been made aware of any significant change in circumstance.

When your child reaches 18

The mailbox agreement remains in place and will continue until your child reaches 18. Following your child turning 18 years old they will be entitled to access their adoption file should they wish to do so. A record of all exchanges which have taken place will be retained on your child’s adoption file.

How to use the mailbox service for the first time

If you have not written using the adoption mailbox service before but would like to start, you can contact the team on:

Once you have informed the team that you would like to begin writing letters, a support worker will help to arrange this, if needed.

If you have not done so already, you will need to sign a 'Mailbox agreement form' and send it to the team. There are also leaflets available called 'Guidance for writing mailbox letters from birth families to adopters'.

Please ask for a copy which can be posted or emailed.
